The Gospel Of Jesus Christ

"And a certain rich ruler asked him saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" Luke 18:18

Ever since time began, man has been searching for a redeemer, one that could save them from fear and death. Many years ago, a rich man came to Jesus asking what He must do to be saved, and though centuries have passed, men are still looking for the same answer...

As a church, we are sometimes guilty of adding to the scriptural plan of salvation until we make it sound hard and unreachable. We analyze God, and describe Him in such intellectual terminologies, that we put redemption over the heads of most ordinary people, leaving them in spiritual darkness.

However, there is nothing any simpler than the BIBLE plan of Salvation. Here it is presented in five steps:

Step 1

Realize Your Need For Salvation

"For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23

As ministers, we can beg, plead, and threaten, but a man will never come to God, until he realizes his need. I have met many people who were convinced that their good works were sufficient to warrant salvation. Not so! The Bible says our own RIGHTEOUSNESS is like filthy rags in God's sight. Read John Chapter 3, Jesus told Nicodemus he must be born again.

Step 2

Realize That Jesus Is Your Savior

"Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." Acts 4:12

After realizing your need for a Savior, you must recognize who that Savior is. God never said we could have eternal life by believing in Confucious, Buddha, a guru, or Hare Krishna. Neither a church, nor a preacher, can save you, you must turn to Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world.

Step 3

Confess Your Sins

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9

Thirdly, you must confess your sins to God. Tell Him that you realize your wrongdoings, and you see His forgiveness. Many times we can apply James 4:2 to our salvation, "...Ye have not, because ye ask not."

Step 4

Believe That God Has Saved You

"But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name;" John 1:12

The first three steps to your salvation are tangible, the fourth is invisible. You must reach out in simple faith, sometimes without feelings, and believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and that He has forgiven your sins. Jesus said if you asked you would receive; so if you have asked, believe salvation is yours!

Step 5

Abide In Christ

"If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in His love." John 15:10

Salvation is just the beginning of a brand new life. To really be saved, you must follow Jesus everyday. There may be trials of your faith, but abide in Him, and His grace will be sufficient for you.

- Prayer Of Salvation -

A Simple Prayer

If you have not yet accepted Christ as your personal Savior, bow right where you are and pray this simple prayer:

"God, I know that I am a sinner, and that only you can be my Savior, I am asking you to forgive the sins of my old life, and give me a brand new life. By faith I believe that you have saved me, and now give me the strength to abide in you." AMEN
