
Robert Goggin
Robert E. Goggin was born October 3rd, 1909 in St. Joe, Arkansas. He left St. Joe on foot in 1936 with his wife and son and his Bible under his arm. They came to Oklahoma to hold revival meetings. Goggin was ordained by the Assemblies of God in 1937.
A few years later they became pastors of Springdale Assembly of God in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Under their leadership the congregation grew and a new church was built, which later became the present Lewis Avenue Assembly of God in Tulsa.
Reverend Goggin was elected to the office of Secretary-Treasurer of the Oklahoma District of the Assemblies of God in 1947. He became the District Superintendent in 1951 and served in that position until January 1981, when he retired due to failing health.
He was bestowed an Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from Southwestern Assemblies of God College in Waxahachie, Texas in 1975. He and his wife, Marie were awarded a Citation of Honor from the former State Senator, Bob Shatwell, and the then Governor David Boren, for their outstanding ecclesiastical efforts in the State of Oklahoma
Brother Goggin passed away March 2, 1992.
